Welcome to Steve's Gym Fitness Arena!

We have all a wide range of classes for all levels of fitness.

All our fitness instructors, have vast experience in all aspects of fitness and health. Their classes cover all areas of fitness from general fitness to those looking to train hard for various events.

Our Fitness Classes in Steves Gym, Newton Abbot

Rob's circuit training will build your cardiovascular and strength using conventional circuit training routines, his Kettlecise classes are based on 37 exercises that build all major muscle groups building good overall muscle tone.

Tess's classes offer unique fitness programs covering Body Logic and Pilates. Body Logic is a low impact class for people of all ages and fitness levels helping to increase fitness, flexibility and muscle tone. Her Pilates classes are based on conventional Pilates but with Tess's usual twist!

Rick's Self Defence Classes are aimed at teaching simple yet effective self defence techniques to all, no matter what your age, ability or strength this system works! This is not a sport!

Looking for great all round workout? See our Boxercise Classes are broken down into several parts which include pad work, cardio and circuit training, within the 45 minute class you will work your entire body.

Insanity Live with Wayne on Fridays 10.30am – 11.15am. £4 per person

Insanity Live! Prepare to shatter your limits with challenging drills and explosive moves that will help you get in the best shape of your life—no matter where you’re starting from. Classes are just 45 minutes long, and each of the exercises are provided with 2 different levels, so if you are new to Insanity Live there are modifications to break it down into more manageable chunks.

Amanda's Zumba Classes are perfect for everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

Rob's Kettlecise

Robs Kettlecise at Steves Gym

Kettlercise is based on 37 individual exercises completed for 1 minute continuously without a break.

The first exercises aim to hit all major muscle groups of the body with the last 7 being orientated to the stomach area.

Kettlebells when used correctly are wonderful conditioning tools. They can be used for various purposes such as:

  • Cardiovascular conditioning
  • Fat Loss
  • Strength Gain
  • Mucular Endurance, especially the legs, buttocks,and lower back.
  • Stamina
  • Endurance
  • Tone
  • Strength

There are various sizes of kettle bells, the range of sizes used with this style of exercise are from 2kg to 12kg. The advised starting weight is 4kg for women and 6kg for men, however this can be altered after discussion with the instructor, dependant on health and experience.

I have been teaching Kettlebells for over 3 years and during that time many of my clients have seen remarkable changes to their body shape, including weight loss, toning, fitness, stamina and mindset.

This is a fantastic, fun, group activity which has proven results. Come and experience the fun factor, talk to those that have succeeded and you too could reach those individual goals that eluded you so far.

The hardest thing to any activity is walking through the door. Once inside every effort will be made to support you, to give you the tools to achieve and be successful.

Ricks Self Defence classes at Steves Gym Rick is a fully qualified OCFM Coach and has trained under Russell Stutely - if you want to see how effective this technique is click the link and look at some of the videos from Russell.

Ricks classes are aimed at teaching simple yet effective self defence techniques to all, no matter what your age, ability or strength this system works! This is not a sport!

Even if you are a seasoned martial artist; no matter what your style, this system can offer a lot of extra players to the game will enhance your skills.

Classes are Tuesday mornings 10-11am and Monday evenings 8-9pm.

One to one classes are also available upon request (especially useful for complete beginners or those who just want to learn the basics)

Kelly - Circuits

Kelly - Circuits - £4 members £5 non-members

Kelly - Circuits

Circuit training is a form of body conditioning using high-intensity aerobics. Circuits will include a range of aerobic and anaerobic exercises which utilise the whole body. This class also incorporates high-intensity interval training (HIIT) which alternates short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods.

Circuits with Kelly is a dynamic class, alternating through various strength and conditioning challenges. One session will focus on lifting weights to sculpt, tone and strengthen the entire body whilst another will incorporate HIIT (high-intensity interval training) with multiple stations to built stamina and strength. Circuits is fun but effective, will torch fat like nothing else and is the ultimate challenge from beginner to advanced. So what are you waiting for? Come on down and see what it’s all about, no matter what size, shape, or strength you are! All things are difficult before they become easy.

An innovative exercise routine for men and women that engages both strength and cardiovascular training. A fun group workout using boxing oriented techniques with gloves, pads, and punch bags. Working both individually and in pairs. You will be encouraged to work within your own capabilities to achieve your goals. Have fun punching your weekly frustrations out of your system in preparation for the weekend.

Classes are designed to bring the elements of boxing into a fun and dynamic workout which helps improve fitness, tone and burn calories.

The class is broken down into several parts which include pad work, cardio and circuit training, within the 45 minute class you will work your entire body.

This class is perfect for ages and abilities, so we welcome everyone to come and have a go.

How It Works

We take the ‘work’ out of workout, by mixing lowintensity and high-intensity moves for an intervalstyle, calorie-burning dance fitness party.
